About Us

Our Story

We're Cohort North, an independent publishing house based in Northumberland. We started with a simple idea: authors should have a professional route into publishing without having to navigate every part of it alone. Our first title, Worth Killing For by L.C. Wilkinson, is already out under the Cohort North imprint.

Our focus is on debut and independent authors who want more structure and support around their work. We're building publishing packages that bring together the practical pieces — including ISBNs, distribution setup, a place in the Cohort North catalogue and an author website — while still giving each author a clear identity of their own.

We don't believe publishing should be a case of choosing supposed winners and ignoring everyone else. We want to work with authors where there is a good fit, give their books a proper professional footing, and help create the conditions for their work to have a genuine chance. That starts with a conversation, not a buy-now button.

We're deliberately small. Taking on a manageable number of authors means we can give each one proper attention rather than chasing volume. As Cohort North grows, the aim is for every author to benefit from being part of something larger — a stronger catalogue, a recognisable imprint and a growing network around it.

That network matters to us too. We're building relationships with editors, cover artists, beta readers and other publishing professionals so authors can be pointed towards people we know and trust, rather than having to find every part of the process from scratch.

Our author services are still being introduced, and full package details will be published on the site as they are finalised. The principle behind them is already clear: practical support, straightforward terms, and an approach that puts long-term author relationships ahead of volume.

If you're a cover artist, editor or beta reader and our approach sounds like a good fit, we'd love to hear from you — get in touch via our contact page.
